New Music | UNA The Laughing Man | The Boogie Firm
Posted by Richard Larsen, March 19, 2013
A big thanks to Boogie Mcfirm for this great piece on UNA’s new EP, the Laughing Man!
I’m ashamed at how long it took me to write this; however, I’m not ashamed to admit that this album, “The Laughing Man“, from West Coast band, Una, literally, saved my life 3 days in a row this past weekend. Securing it’s spot in my rotation.
First, can we just talk about the haunting voice and vocals of Jennifer Nice (fitting surname!)? On “The Myth” her voice comes in-stereo; finding those parts of your musical soul that you reserve for special occasions. But it’s the way her vocals weave an intricate pattern thoughout the entire album which captivates the listener; together with Richard Larsen’s skills, as well as Eddie Barajas (HAWT Music) serving it up as their decknician, I really only see nothing but stages with appreciative fans lining up to hear them.
The vote’s in on Una’s sophomore album; It’s a smash and really that good. I hope to hear a Junior album by 2015, guys!
Una are: Jennifer Nice (voice), Richard Larsen (keys), Eddie Barajas (turntables).
